What results are you getting from your current marketing?
I track and evaluate my marketing monthly and make adjustments.
I have a general idea of what is working and what isn't.
I ask every customer where they heard of us.
I have no tracking system.
Where is your marketing plan?
Filed away where I can refer to it as necessary.
With my other business opening paperwork, somewhere.
On a bar napkin.
In my head.
How much time do you dedicate to building your internet presence?
I have a clearly written out blogging and Social Media schedule and spend about an hour a day on it.
Once a week I try to blog or spend some time on Facebook.
I built my website two years ago and haven't touched it since.
I don't have an internet presence.
What is your Social Media strategy?
I spend 2-3 hours a week updating my profiles and posting content.
I have profiles on Facebook and Twitter and Linked In, but don't use them much.
I avoid Facebook and Twitter at work because of distractions.
I attend an after hours networking group.
Do you have an ad in the Yellow Pages?
I took my ad out of the Yellow pages a few years ago and re allocated the funds into internet marketing.
I reduced the size of my ad last year.
I am listed in the Yellow pages.
Of course I have an ad in the Yellow Pages. You have to, right?
My primary keywords are:
Carefully researched and sprinkled throughout my site.
I researched them a few years ago, I might need to update them.
Guessed at and duplicated in all my page titles.
Not sure what those are.
Type your elevator pitch here:
How do you feel about your elevator pitch?
It is unique and has a clear call to action.
I have a couple of different ones, not sure which is best.
I need a new one.
This was the first time I have written one.
My guarantee:
Is clearly defined, and on all of my marketing material.
I have a guarantee, but it is not marketed well.
I give people money back if they aren't happy, but don't advertise it.
I do not have a guarantee.
My business comes from
A good mix of networking, internet and other media.
Mostly from word of mouth, not sure if I get any from other sources.
I ask every customer where they heard of us, but not everyone knows.
I am not sure how my customers found me.
My logo
Is used on all my material consistently, and gets revised every few years as my company evolves.
Has a few different versions for versatility.
Is my business name in a serif font.
Is a picture of my dog.
I track where my customers come from by
Google Analytics and carefully designed forms to gather other data.
I know how much traffic my website gets, but not sure if those hits become customers.
I ask all my customers.
I guess.
My contacts are organized by
I use a CRM system and a pipeline process.
I have all my contacts in my Blackberry.
Post it Notes all over my desk.
My customers can get a hold of me.
My calls to action are
Benefit driven and on all my marketing materials.
Are to sign up for my newsletter.
Say "call now".
What is a call to action?
My headline on my website
Is benefit driven and uses my primary key phrase.
Is catchy, but does not use my keywords.
Is the name of my business.
Says "Welcome to My Website".
The last time I did a SWAT analysis
I re evaluate once a quarter, sometimes monthly.
I did one when I started my business.
Not sure what a SWAT analysis is.
Last mosquito season.
I keep in touch with my best clients
I send them regularly scheduled, resourceful pieces of information and offers.
I occasionally call or email them.
I see them when they visit my business.
I wait for them to call me.
My competition
I have a plan to keep up with my competition both on and off the internet.
I did an evaluation of my competition before I started my business.
My business is very unique so I really don't have competition.
I don't know who my competition is.
If I put all my marketing pieces together
They all represent my branding standard and have a consistent message, look, and feel.
They all have the same logo, but vary in messaging and general look and feel.
They are all very different.
I am impressed with all the variations.
My marketing budget is
Clearly defined and I analyze and reallocate funds based on results.
I stick to the budget, but don't change what I am doing very often.
When I have money to spend, I'll run an ad somewhere.
I don't have a budget.
When I network
I have a plan for networking and set goals on meeting good contacts.
I network all the time, and often spend the entire night talking to people I already know.
I belong to a networking group, but don't get that much business out of it.
I don't go out and meet people, I work too much.
